Get Involved

There are many ways you can support the Hawes Elementary PTSA:

The Hawes PTSA raises and manages an annual budget of more than $150K a year to support all of the events, activities, and resources we provide for all Hawes Elementary school students.

We need to raise an average of $160 per student each year to keep up our support of the school (e.g. field trips, quarterly art classes, teacher funds, campus improvement and supplies, etc). We ask that each family consider donating a minimum of $25 per student (more is appreciated if you're able)!

There are opportunities to volunteer with the PTSA year round, and we rely on your support to run our programs and events. Please keep an eye out for flyers in folders and emails from your room parent because they will send out volunteer requests periodically.

Become a PTSA Member:

We encourage all Hawes students, parents, and family members (we love grandparents too!) to become PTSA members. The annual membership fee is $10. By becoming a member you are able to join our PTSA board, vote on how PTSA funds are spent, advocate for education at the State level, and so much more.

*Please Note: Donations made to the State PTSA through the PTSA membership website do not benefit Hawes Elementary School directly.  To support our direct donation drive you can donate here

100 Mile Running Club (year round)

The PTSA organizes this fun program every year, where 1st-5th grade students run in the morning before school out on the blacktop by the playground with the goal of trying to run 100 miles over the course of the year. The program usually runs a few days a week before school (typically between 8-8:20am) from October to May. Specific sign-up requests will go out sometime after school starts.

Running club depends on weekly, committed volunteers who will sign up for a day a week. Interested in volunteering? Email Kelly Soemantoro at

Hawes Library (year round)

We are excited that the old Accelerated Reader (AR) library and the Hawes Library are merging this year to create one Hawesome library! Accelerated Reader (AR) is a supplemental incentive-based reading program offered to all students to improve reading comprehension.  Each 1st-5th grade student has an AR goal each trimester and must read AR books and complete AR tests to earn AR points to reach their goal. At Hawes, we need PTSA Volunteers to support maintaining the library. Interested in volunteering? Email Emily Selna at
